Apenheul is a so called specialised zoo. It can be found in the middle of the PARC "bos en duin". Bos en duin is a large parc in Apeldoorn. At Apenheul they only have different types of monkeys and apes. Apenehul is quite unique in it's kind because of this. Apenheul prefers to keep their apes and monkeys in the most natural way as possible, without any bars. The apes and monkeys live for example on a isle surrounded by water. At this zoo they don't have other animals than monkey's and apes. At this zoo the Bolivian squirrel monkeys are wondering around loose! when you are sitting on a bench it is possible that a monkey comes sit on you lap. It is not allowed to pet or feed these of any other animal at the park. At this zoo it is possible to book different tours. Also Apenheul has a special program for schools.This zoo is a member of the dutch Federation of Zoos, NVD (Nederlandse vereniging van dierentuinen)

Apenheul is easily reachable by car. Also you can go by train to Apeldoorn central train station and than take the bus to Apenheul

#3 growboy 2009-07-30 13:30 When i was younger the apenheul was pretty nice plenty small monkey`s runnig around free they would come and sit on your shoulder and stuff but now you cant even touch the monkeys anymore due to a series of incidents its a shame bcuz it take all the fun away

+2 #1 BartMan 2009-07-28 10:42 Once I visited the Apenheul with my classmates. For someone who likes animals, especially monkeys, can appreciate the apenheul. However I think its to bad that some people misbehave en tease & ennoy the monkeys. So if you visite the park keep distance, and your hands off the monkeys.
