Aquazoo is a small zoo in the north of the Netherlands. Aquazoo has evolved from "Otterpark Leeuwarden" in Januari of 2003. The name "otterpark Leeuwarden" has been changed to aquazoo after it has been taken over by zoodiac zoos. Zodiac zoos is an organisation with three other zoos: Dierenpark de wissel in Epe, Zoo park overloon, Overloo and zoo labyrinth Boekelo. Aquazoo is a zoo with mostly water animals. In this zoo they have otters, some small mammals and birds. Aquazoo has a several tours that you can book. They have a special program for interns, zoocollege.
Aquazoo can best be reached by car, there is free parking space available.Also it can be reached by public transport. You can take the train to Leeuwarden central train station. From there you can take the bus to Aquazoo.This zoo is a member of the dutch Federation of Zoos, NVD (Nederlandse vereniging van dierentuinen).
Because this zoo is close to Leeuwarden it is nice to visit the city centre of leeuwarden
