Dierenpark Amersfoort is a middle size zoo in the middle of the Netherlands. This zoo is founded by two friends. In 1964 the park changed owner to the daughter of one of the founders and her husband. The zoo staid in the possession of the same family (Family Vis) ever since. In the present day the family still has a lot of influence on the daily routine of the zoo. Right now one CEO is in charge of the zoo. This zoo is divided into different themes. For example you have the bear square, in here you can find bears, monkeys and lots of other animals. In this zoo they also have: Zebra's, girafs, elephants, tigers, lions and lots of other interesting animals. The most recently opened part of the park is the dinosaur forest. In this forest you can find statues of dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are as big as the skeletons of real dinosaurs. It is possible to book a guided tour. Also for school classes this zoo has a special program.
Dierenpark Amersfoort can be easily reached by car, there is a lot of free parking space available. Also you can take the public transport to the central trainstation of Amersfoort, and than take the bus to Amersfoort zoo.This zoo is a member of the dutch Federation of Zoos, NVD (Nederlandse vereniging van dierentuinen)
