Efteling
Park Information
The Efteling is one of the oldest amusement parks in the entire world and voted to be the best amusement park in the world in 1992. The park is almost two times the size of the original Disneyland in California with over 35 rides. They used to be closed in winter because of the dutch climate, but recently they are also open in winter and rename to Winter Efteling. Some rides are closed during the winter. The original part that opened in May 1952 was called het Sprookjesbos (Fairy Tale Forest) and was designed by Anton Pieck, a famous dutch illustrator. The Efteling worked close with Disneyland in sharing information how Europeans and Americans experience theme parks. There's another theme park in the netherlands called Sprookjesbos, this park has nothing to do with The Efteling. The park is divided in 5 areas or realms called Reizenrijk (Travel Realm), Marerijk (Fairy Realm), Anderrijk (Differ Realm), Ruigrijk (Rough Realm) and the in 2009 added Bosrijk (Forest Realm). The Efteling has big plans for the future. From 2009 till 2012 there will be 40 million Euro (almost 57 million Dollars) invested on new projects.
