What's Happening To Coney IslandNew York City just agreed to pay $95.6 million for seven acres in the heart of Coney Island from developer Joseph J. Sitt. Mr Sitt has been buying land in Coney Island since 2005, and promised to build a Las Vegas style resort. While rides like the Cyclone roller coaster and the Wonder Wheel remain, the Thunderbolt, Child’s restaurant and even the Astroland amusement park are cleared for new ventures that were never build. The City promises the same thing as developer Mr Sitt did. Let's hope the city made a good choice buying the land to protect the area along the boardwalk for amusements forever and revive Coney Island. |
