San Diego zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world. This zoo is privately operated by the nonprofit Zoological Society of San Diego. A gondola, called the skyfari, gives an overview of the zoo. Also 75% of the park can be reached by a zoo tour buss. The exhibits are ordered by habitat, for example the African rain forest with gorilla's and the arctic taiga and tundra in the summer time with polar bears. The exhibits are build in a most natural way as possible (blind wires etc.). San Diego zoo is one of the few zoos in the world that houses the giant panda. Next to the zoo you can find the San Diego Wild Animal Park, animals are exchanged between the two parks as well as other zoos in the world. In this zoo they also have different species of birds, reptiles and other mammals. The zoo grows it's own bamboo for the panda's and their own eucalyptus for theirĀ  koala's. At this zoo they have a special centre for Conservation and Research for Endangered Species (CRES). In here they raise different endangered species like Californian condors and giant panda's. Many species are bred in captivity to be released back into the wild again, when possible.

San Diego Zoo can be easily reached by car, there is a lot of free parking space available. Also you can take the public transport.
